The love of reading was celebrated across Omega Multi-Academy Trust as our schools marked World Book Day in their own unique ways.  World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and foster a love of reading in all of our students. We believe that reading is not only a fundamental skill but also a gateway to creativity, imagination and lifelong learning. Whether it’s discovering new worlds, stepping into the shoes of fascinating characters, or gaining knowledge, books have the power to inspire and transform lives.

At Westbrook Old Hall Primary School, children arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, author or even in their pyjamas as they embraced the love of storytelling.

During the day pupils shared their favourite books and passages and house groups took part in reading-based activities, including a bookmark-making session inspired by their favourite stories. Older pupils also read to younger children, promoting a shared love of books.

At Park Road Community Primary School, children and teachers embraced the "Read Your Way" theme, arriving in costumes reflecting their favourite literary characters. Each class explored stories about individuals who overcame challenges, leading to discussions, writing exercises, and artwork for the school hall. Pupils also shared stories and explored new genres.

Chapelford Village Primary School became the Chapelford School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with featured activities including wand-making, a game of quidditch, and an interactive potions class. Pupils also took part in a Masked Reader challenge, guessing which teachers were behind masked book readings.

Burtonwood Community Primary School pupils joined the "Read Around School" challenge, exploring different reading spots and earning initials on their reading cards. Those who completed their cards were entered into the "Where Can You Read?" raffle, with two winners from each class receiving a book prize. This activity has continued beyond World Book Day, encouraging independent reading.

At Great Sankey High School, over 45 staff members dressed as literary characters, including a wizard duel between Molly Weasley and Bellatrix Lestrange in the carpark. The "Guess the Book Character" challenge tasked pupils with identifying disguised staff while highlighting well-known literary figures.

World Book Day was a great success across Omega Multi-Academy Trust, as our schools celebrated storytelling and the joy of reading.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day special!
